Penguin Palace – Happy 2020!

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! As you may know, 2019 was the year I first started sharing my cards on Instagram and then in later months, I started this blog. So hopefully, 2020 will be my first full year of sharing my cards with all of you!

And what better way to start than with a rainbow New Year card? This little guy from Penguin Palace sure seems to think it’s a good idea!

I did something unusual for me and decided to make this a (mostly) one-layer card. I stamped the boy from Penguin Palace Lucky Break and the sentiment from Lawn Fawn Let’s Bokeh in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. Then I stamped the boy again on a piece of Heffy Memo Tape and cut him out to make a mask.

Once the mask was in place, I used removable adhesive to hold the Heffy Doodle Starfall stencil and blended Lawn Fawn inks in Bubblegum, Lemonade, Freshly Cut Grass, and Grape Soda on top. I meant to use Merman as well, but my blue brush must have been dirty still with a darker ink. Oops! I like the darker blue though! I was hoping for a confetti-look, and I think it worked pretty well!

I removed the mask and colored the boy with Copic markers. I finished by cutting the piece down with the largest Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangle and adhered it to some patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow 6×6 paper pack. Patterned paper and mostly one-layer? Who am I?!

This card was definitely not in my usual comfort zone, but I think it turned out pretty cute!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day and New Year!
