Penguin Palace – Hugs

Hello everyone! Creativity Week is still in full swing over at Penguin Palace Stamps! The new release includes four stencils and I used one to create a fun background for my card today.

I decided to try a monochromatic look for this card. I grabbed my blending brushes and the new Penguin Palace Vintage Basket stencil to create this background. I started with blending Distress Oxide Crushed Pistachio ink from the outside edge towards the middle, fading it in as I went. I then realigned the stencil so the squares lined up with the middle of the plus signs and used the same ink blending technique with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers.

I die cut the panel with the largest My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Rectangle die and adhered it to Simon Says Stamp Mint cardstock. I stamped the “hugs” from Hello Bluebird Spring Script in VersaMark and embossed with American Crafts Zing in Metallic Gold. I also stamped the “enclosed” from the same Hello Bluebird set on a strip of mint cardstock and popped it up with foam tape below the hugs.

The cute little alligator from Penguin Palace Happy Track and Field (Chapter 2) looks like he could be reaching for a hug so I stamped him in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink and colored him with Copics before using the matching die to cut him out. I also used the matching die on some craft foam and adhered that to the back of my die cut for dimension.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Make sure to stop by the Penguin Palace blog for a chance to win a fun giveaway! Have a wonderful day!
