Pretty Pink Posh Spring Release Blog Hop

Hello friends! I am super excited to be participating in a blog hop today for Pretty Pink Posh’s new spring release! I am a huge fan of Pretty Pink Posh products, so when Paulina asked me to join in the hop, I jumped at the chance to work with some new items! Make sure to read to the bottom of the post for info on some prizes and the complete blog hop line up for today!

For my card today, I couldn’t help playing with the newest floral stamp in the Pretty Pink Posh lineup – Daffodils! I often look for pictures before beginning to color flowers, and when I searched for daffodils, I found the loveliest white daffodils with coral pink centers. I loved that they were different than the traditional yellow and decided to use them as the inspiration for my card!

Since I knew my daffodils were going to be an alternate color, I decided to bring yellow into my background as a little nod to the popular yellow varieties. I used Pixie Spray to hold the new Pretty Petals stencil in place on Neenah 80# Solar White cardstock and blended Lawn Fawn Butter ink on top. I concentrated the color on the edges and blended in toward the center for a soft yellow background. I then removed the stencil and splattered the piece with gold acrylic paint. Once the splatters were dry, I added a thin border of coral cardstock before adhering it to a light grey card base made from Lawn Fawn Fog cardstock.

I stamped several Daffodils blooms onto a new piece of Neenah 80# Solar White cardstock in Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink so I could color with Copics. I ended up only using two of the clusters, but I colored several more! For the pink centers, I used R22, R21, R01, R00, and R000. For the yellow, I used Y18, Y15, and Y13. I added some shading to the white petals with C2, C0, and C00. Once I was finished coloring, I added a few white highlights with a Gelly Roll pen, then cut the flowers out with the matching Daffodils dies.

After I added my daffodils to the card, I started on my sentiment. I cut the “mom” from the new Mom/Mother Scripts die set twice from white cardstock and once from metallic gold. I stacked them up and glued them together to create a dimensional word. I stamped the rest of the sentiment from the new Mom stamp set in VersaMark ink on a scrap of coral cardstock and embossed with white. I added the sentiment strip to the card first, then glued the “mom” in place, slightly overlapping it with the strip. For some finishing sparkle, I added a scattering of Buttercream jewels with a glue pen.

Thank you so much for hopping along and stopping at my blog! Make sure to leave a comment by 11:59 PM PST on March 16, 2011 for the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the Pretty Pink Posh shop! Winners will be announced on the Pretty Pink Posh blog, and there will be three gift cards given – one for each day of the hop! That’s right – this is only day one of a three day hop! 1. That was smart doing a search for daffodils for color inspiration! I’ve never seen coral centers, either. My favorite part of Easter time is the pastel colors – your card is so pretty – beautiful – and super creative! Nice work!

  2. What beautiful Daffodils. I love to grow “different” Daffodils, but many people only know of the yellow ones, so it’s a good thing you showed a photo or they would have thought you had come up with the color scheme from thin air 🙂 GORGEOUS!!!! God made them first, and then you copied his beautiful design. I love these!!!!!!! I am going to need to get this stamp set.

  5. I’ve seen this sort of daffodil both in person and in catalogues. I don’t have any, though. You may have won me over, as this is a gorgeous color variant! Love your card and the way you incorporated just a little yellow in your background. Have a terrific day and thank you for inspiring readers/viewers from all over!

  9. I actually have a few daffodils like the ones on your beautiful card. Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers, probably because they are the first to welcome spring! Glad you went outside the normal color palette for daffodils. You ended up with a gorgeous card!
