Pretty Pink Posh October Release Blog Hop

Hello friends! I’m so sorry to have been MIA the last couple of months! I have been busy busy moving to a new house! And to make a long story short, we’ve run into some issues with our new home, one of which has lead to us deciding to replace our flooring upstairs. Bad news – no craft room yet. Good news – I will finally have a craft room with laminate flooring! But until the install is done, I have decided that I need to get crafty and have set up a temporary space at my dining room table with minimal supplies. And good thing too because I am just in time for the new Pretty Pink Posh release! Woohoo!

I am so excited to get back to creating with this release. It is a Christmas/holiday release which is always my absolute favorite! And let me tell you, this release is no exception! Have you seen the village? And the snowmen? And the candles? And the florals? And there’s PEARLS!!!! I can’t wait to bring all my ideas to life and share them with you all! For this hop, I created a pretty floral square card that will brighten anyone’s holiday season! Be sure to read on after my card for information on some special prizes from Pretty Pink Posh to celebrate the release!

I started my card with a piece of white woodgrain cardstock that I cut to about 3.75″ square. I added a thin frame of metallic gold cardstock for a bit of shine, then add it to my 4″ square navy card base. The result is a nice, simple, and clean background for my paper pieced flower.

I cut the new Elegant Poinsettia die from the same navy cardstock I used for my base and glued just the outline to my card. I then used the die again on two colors of red cardstock and two colors of green cardstock to piece together the whole image. Just as a heads up, I did have to use a shim with this die to get the center to cut all the way through, but that could be because my plates are a bit warped. If you need a shim, you can use some scrap cardstock, or I just saw this new Magnetic Shim from Pretty Pink Posh in the shop! That will be going in my cart to try out!

Eek, on this close up you can definitely see where I’ll have to use my adhesive eraser a bit once I find it! After I had my cardstock pieces all in place, I stamped the simple “Joy” sentiment from the new Holiday Scripts stamp set in Versamark ink and embossed with gold. I cut it out with the matching die and glued it to the card under my floral piece. I love that this sentiment set comes with matching dies for the script words! It gives such a nice look!

I had to play a bit with the new pearls, so I used some of them to fill in the smaller spaces I didn’t want to fuss with cardstock for. I used Metallic Gold pearls for the poinsettia’s center and they have the most amazing shine! I can’t wait to use these on more holiday cards! I then added Cherry Red pearls for the berries and glued a few extra around the image to finish.

  2. Oooooooooh!! I love the paper-pieced look! This is a beautiful die and gives so many possibilities. This reminds me a little of stained glass, esp w/ the dark blue focus — makes me think of Chartres cathedral. Anyway… it’s a beautiful card and thanks much for the inspiration!
